3D CAPP System
With the transformation of R&D department design tools from 2D CAD to 3D CAD, the capabilities for product design and innovation have been further improved, and development cycle for the model has been greatly shortened. However, the process design for brige and link of engineering and manufacturing still remains in the process card editing. Data of frabracation process were recorded and summarized manually and paper signing of technical document were used to solve the initial application stage of transactional work in frabracation design. With the thorough usage and application of 3D CAD, the limitations of existing process design methods became more obvious. As a technological design system, it must upgrade from the traditional process planning supporting 2D to the support 3D solid model. At the same time, the application of process planning system must develop from integration based on two-dimensional CAD to integration based on three-dimensional CAD, that is, three-dimensional process planning system based on three-dimensional CAD. The 3D process design system adopts the design technology based on 3D CAD model, which increases the readability and consistency of the product, reduces the time for understanding the drawings, and further improves the rationality and scientificity of process design mode, process resources and manufacturing data management mode, and realizes the uniqueness of design, process and manufacturing data sources.
The functional architecture of the 3D CAPP system is divided into 5 layers.
The operating system layer and database layer serve as the underlying architecture of the 3D CAPP system, and provides operational support and data storage for the system.
The functional layer provides general functions for 3D CAPP system, which can be used by other modules. It includes basic module of process planning, file management module, knowledge management module, file output module and process data access interface module.
The application layer acts a level of direct interaction with users, which includes the realization of a specific business function within the scope of CAPP system. Tend to achieve through the module in the function layer. It includes the assembly process compilation module, machining process document compilation module, inspection plan compilation module and knowledge/resource invocation module. At the same time, it develops various system integration interfaces to make the 3D CAPP system suitable for the users' information system.
The system management layer is used as the maintenance and management module of the 3D CAPP system, it's located at the functional and application layer.
1) Function of Process Document Compilation and Management
This module is mainly used to compile daily process documents of the workshop, which mainly includes: assembly process documents, machining process documents, inspection plans and other process forms, and to manage the process documents produced.
2) Design Function for the Flow Chart of the Assembly
The module supports the assembly flow chart through the Pert diagram to make the process sequence more clear; it supports the related parts and information of the used resources of each process file node in the Pert diagram.
3) Visual Reconstruction Function of MBOM
This feature supports the visualization partitioning of MBOM based on lightweight 3D digital analog. The components required for the process documents are distributed to the corresponding process documents in the 3D visualization environment and verified to avoid omissions.
4) Statistical Summary Function
This module is oriented to the production-level inventory of the workshop. Taking the latest version of each process document as the inquiry object, and the statistical record of tools, parts, standard parts, rivets and process contents in the documents are counted or categorized. At the same time, it also supports the above-mentioned statistics on the documents prepared by the craftsmen themselves. The statistical output is divided into two types: forms and EXCEL file.
5) Output and Preview Function of Process Documents
This feature enables the generation for user-entered process data in a specific format. It's divided into two sub-functions: 1) process file generation (preview); 2) process document printing. The process file generation (preview) includes the function to generate template (preview) of electronic documents (3D, 2D), printing documents (3D, 2D), and the function of inversion of process assembly.

The printing function of process documents includes the ability to print, batch print, viewing electronic signature, and extract printing screenshots from 3D digital model.
6) Process Knowledge and Manufacturing Resource Library Function
This module is used to implement knowledge-based process design, promote the transformation, sharing and reuse of process knowledge and experience, and improve the quality and efficiency of process design. It includes the process knowledge datasets and process resource database, mainly including "engineering drawings", "common terminology", "material code library", "equipment library", "tooling library" etc.
7) Working Hours and mMterial Quota Management Functions
This function can achieve the working hour input and edit each process or steps in the 3D CAPP system, and summarize the required working hours of the process document or the entire product according to the requirements. In addition, the material number, specifications, blank size required for manufacturing the part in each process document in the system can also be collected according to the part drawing number.
8) On-site Ink Function
After integration with PDM system and MES system, the paper-based ink modification business was implemented in CAPP system by using electronic ink technology, and paperless implementation was carried out.
9) System Management Functions
This module is mainly used for system maintenance of system administrators, including user rights management, security audit, database backup, and customization

3) Through the research and development of process information modeling functions, the effective organization and management of process data in CAPP system can be achieved. This not only facilitates the effective use of process data by ERP/MES and CAQ, but also facilitates the follow-up maintenance of process data organization by CAPP system administrators.
4) The establishment of three-dimensional inspection plan based on MBD technology was achieved, and MBD technology was extended to the field of inspection and testing.
